Mason Stains & Glaze Chemistry with Sunset Canyon Pottery
Saturday, October 17 | 10 AM–1 PM
$125
Ever wonder what actually makes a glaze work? Join John Vela, owner of Sunset Canyon Pottery, for a deep dive into mason stains and glaze chemistry. John has spent 25 years in production ceramics and mixes all of Sunset Canyon’s glazes, and in this workshop he’ll pull back the curtain on how color, chemistry, and firing come together.
You’ll learn how to use mason stains to create colored clay, colored slips, and glazes, with reliable, repeatable results you can bring back to your own practice. Each student will take home 2 lbs of colored clay to experiment with, plus a handout and recipes so you can keep mixing on your own. This workshop is best suited for intermediate students with some clay experience.
Workshop Includes
- 1/2 lb of colored clay to take home
