Overall I am satisfied with my purchase, but there are two reasons for the middling score. The colors on the item I received are much less vibrant than the picture. This is a minor issue and I understand that there is always variation in what comes out of the kiln, so I don’t fault Sunset Canyon for this, but the “red” top portion on my item is a dull unattractive brown color and there is virtually no yellow between the brown and blue. The tumbler is still very nice and I very much like the elegant easy-to-grip shape and and the rough, no-slip bottom portion feels great in my hand.
The other reason is a greater concern. A logo was stamped on the flat bottom and deformed it slightly. This does not affect its appearance but it results in an insecure seating of the vessel on any flat surface. It is stable in three directions, but tippy in the fourth. Given the already narrow base, I fear it may be very easy to knock over and spill or break the vessel. I do fault the company for this flaw, since a careful stamping ought not to deform the bottom in this way. Since this is not mass produced by machine, I suppose this is an infrequent occurrence, possibly unique, but this should have been noticed and and the item marked down as slightly flawed.
